Shorter and Sons D'Oyly Carte pottery - Gilbert and Sullivan opera interest.

Shorter and Sons D'Oyly Carte small character jugs of Jack Point and Major General from the comic operas by Gilbert and Sullivan, circa 1940s, 13cm high; together with a rare Shorter and Sons 'Dick Deadeye' (HMS Pinafore) D'Oyly Carte box and cover, 12.5cm long x 9cm wide.

Condition Report
Box and cover- crazing to the glaze throughout. Small nibble to the corner edge of the the cover and one further fault line to the edge or the cover. Otherwise good, no further damages or restoration. 

Major General - small glaze fault to palm of saluting hand.

Jester - crazing to the glaze. Small surface abrasion with glaze loss to the tip of the cockerel and another glaze fault to the rear portion of his hat. There are several areas of glaze and resulting paint flaking to the ochre outstretched leg. The blue areas of the puppet are also missing glaze/badly fired.
