Royal Navy. A pre-printed commission, 8th November 1854, with manuscript insertions, appointing Lieutenant Henry A Hollinworth to be Acting Commander of HMS President (1829), with papered seal to left margin, signed by Admiral Charles Frederick (1797-1875) and counter-signed by a secretary, together with a further notation regarding Acting Commander Matthew Connolly's transfer to replace Frederick on HMS Amphitrite (1816).
Notes: Henry Augustus Hollinworth (b. 24th August 1820). Service records show he previously served as a mate with the Thunderer in Syria 1841-42, with the Cornwallis in the First China War 1840-42; as a first lieutenant on the sloop HMS Grecian and as commander of the steam-vessel HMS Lizard in 1848. The President looks to have been his final commission. In March 1856, he died onboard the West India Steamer, La Plata, during passage to England. Tragically, his sister was to die later in the same year. Their father was Rear-Admiral John Ibbetson Hollinworth.
