Alfred Heaton Cooper RI (British 1863-1929), Watercolour of Sheep being driven through an alleyway, signed bottom left, mounted and framed. Measurements 49.5 x 34 cm (i), frame 69.5 x 53 cm.

Alfred Heaton Cooper was a Northern artist and father of the landscape artist William Heaton Cooper. He studied art under George Clausen before relocating to Norway where he set up a studio. He returned to the UK in 1894 settling back in the Lake District, having shipped his log cabin studio over from Norway. Cooper is best known for his watercolours, especially those relating to the Lake District and daily country life, as well as those of the Norwegian Fjords.

Condition Report

The painting is a watercolour on paper which is framed with glazing. The paper has some sparsly distrubuted spots of foxing but appears to be in good condition without any obvious rips, tears or creases. The paint appears to be in stable condition with minimal fading. The frame is solid with minor signs of wear and tear.

Bidding indicates acceptance of the condition of the lot.  All lots are sold subject to general wear and tear commensurate with age and handling over time and only obvious faults will be mentioned after a visual inspection.
