Notes: The painting was presented to Mr Walter Jones (the grandfather of the present owner) around the start of the Great War. Mr Jones trained and showed the horse on behalf of its owner and the painting was presented to him as a token of thanks for his efforts. He also trained horses for the Merthyr Tydfil Co-operative prior to serving in the army from 1914 to 1918.
