A Nigerian softwood chess set by J.P.Akeredolu, mid 20th century, the kings as standing tribal chiefs wearing turbans and holding staffs, the queens with elaborate hairstyles, the bishops as tribal elders, the knights seated on horses, the rooks as thatched huts and the pawns as seated tribesmen, each piece inscribed 'J.D.AKEREDOLU/OWO'.

One white pawn arm re-glued. Both black bishops heads re-glued. All else good with only negligible signs of age/use.
