A Coalport 'Banana Tree' tea service

A John Rose, Coalport tea service in the Banana Tree pattern
late 18th/early 19th century
transfer-printed in underglaze blue with additional gilded detail, the service comprising teapot, cover and stand, sucrier and cover, six tea bowls, six saucers, large cirular dish and one medium saucer dish (19)

John Rose apparently used Caughley's crinkled moulds for tea bowls and cups in his Banana Tree services, whereas the larger pieces and teapots were of Royal Flute shape.

Condition Report
The teapot has a bad crack right through the base and the main body. Chip to underside of the teapot stand, 1 teabowl badly cracked, 1 saucer with hairline to underside, bread and butter plate with star crack
