A good Japanese shibayama box and cover, Meiji period, of rectangular outline, the top applied with mother of pearl and mixed hardstone in a profusion of overlapping flowers, the border and sides with a scrambled pearlised mosaic interspersed with gilt flowerheads, the interior with dense nashiji, the rims mounted in silver, signed to a red tablet, 11cm x 8cm x 3.5cm.
