An unusual 18th century vernacular gothic Windsor armchair , the back and arms principally in yew wood, the central pierced splat with pointed apertures framed within a pointed arch,, united by further pierced supports before simple tapering arms with swept supports above a pointed saddled elm seat, with a fluted border, raised on cabriole legs united by hay rake stretchers, 107 cm high, 53 cm wide (maximum) seat height 47 cm.
Provenance: Property of a private Shropshire gentleman.

One of the stretcher pegs is a replacement and one of the pierced apron mounts to the seat front is sadly missing. Please note the looseness of the front left leg, seen in images both showing it in place and lifted out which requires little pressure. There is also a crack running through one of the front legs. Otherwise please see other more minor breakages as pictured
