Footnote:Daniel Macnee was a Scottish portrait artist, studying under John Knox. He exhibited at the RA and RSA. From 1866 he became the preeminent portrait painter in Scotland, following the deaths of Watson Gordon in 1864 and Graham Gilbert in 1866. He was elected PRSA in 1876.
