A good pair of Japanese bronze plaques by Ichiju, Meiji period, of rectangular form and modelled in high relief with macaque monkeys; the first naturalistically depicted seated on a rocky outcrop clutching its foot and calling, the second anthropomorphised as a collector gazing through spectacles at a monkey netsuke attached to an inro, both signed Ichiju and with artist's kakihan, mounted in hardwood frames, the first 77x45cm, the second 69x48cm.
