KORAN, 4to, 19th century, 27.5cm x 18.5cm, 308 leaves, in black script with interlinear translation in red and with gilt arabesque devices in margins, pages bordered in gold and blue and heightened with designs in gilt and colours. Black morocco gilt with fore-edge flap. *According to the vendor the book was given to his father in about 1911 by the Khedive of Egypt for whom he had done some accountancy work. Together with a papier-mache casket decorated with Arabian figures and two decorative lacquered panels.
