Inscribed verso: HMS Cormorant, single screw composite sloop and guns 900. Launched at Chatham Dockyard, September 12th 1811. Length between perpendiculars 170, depth in hold 1827'94 tons, breadth extreme 36, buithen in tons 1827 1/94'. R.P. Saunders Esq. Chief Constructor, C. Fellows CB Admiral Superintendant. Named by Miss Saunders.

Condition Report

The painting is an oil on canvas, framed without glazing. The paint surface has extensive craquelure with some areas of flaking and paint loss. There are surface level accretions and dirt throughtout. General wear and tear to the frame.
