A Chinese export lacquer box and cover, first quarter 20th Century, of serpentine outline and decorated with riverscapes, buildings and trees in red and gold against a dark brown ground, the interior containing eighteen further fitted boxes with conforming decoration, 39.5cm wide, 30cm deep, 14cm high.
