A German Field Honour Badge (Deutsches-Feld-Ehrenzeichen)
constructed of white metal with gilt and silver finish with an elongated eight-pointed silver star with a superimposed white enamelled cross, the reverse inscribed 'Deutsches Feld-Ehrenzeichen e.V' alongside 'ges Gesch' and 'Hamburg 11'; together with matching stickpin and certificates of award to Private Richard Zachrau, dated 26th April and 9th May 1934, award number 148973. The awards are housed in an associated presentation box.
Notes:
The Deutsches Feld-Ehrenzeichen was available for private purchase by veterans of WW1 until mid-1934, and 160,000 badges approximately were sold, 160,285 being the latest known number of award documents that was issued on May 15, 1934. Later, a decree instated in November 1935 made the wearing of this award illegal. A cursory search of the Bundesarchiv finds a Richard Zachrau (b. 9.3.1894) mentioned in the Berlin Centre NSDAP Statistics Survey.
