WW1 Royal Navy Medal group - Chief Stoker Everett, involved in the first naval battle of WW1

A First World War medal group of four to "282674 T.H. EVERETT. CH. STO., R.N." comprising 1914-15 Star, British War Medal, Victory Medal and Edward VII 1901-1910 Naval Long Service and Good Conduct Medal, named to "282674 T.H. EVERETT. STO. PO., H.M.S HAMPSHIRE" (4)

Chief Stoker Thomas Henry Everett was born on 26th October 1876 in North Walsham, Norfolk. Everett entered the Navy in 1896, joined the Lion-class battlecruiser HMS Princess Royal in 1913 and remained with her until the end of hostilities. At the outbreak of war, he was sent to the North Sea, where he took part in the first Naval Battle of the First World War at Heligoland Bight, alongside the Battles at Dogger Bank and Jutland. He was also engaged on patrol and escort duty and, after the cessation of hostilities, returned to port and demobilised in 1919.
