A rare Caughley polychrome porcelain punch bowl
circa 1790
centrally decorated to the interior with the crest of George IV when the Prince of Wales, between blue and gilt floral and swag borders, with further repeating decoration to the exterior rim, unmarked, 28cm diameter (stapled repair)
Provenance: Caughley Bicentenary Exhibition, no. 610. See the British Royal Collection for a near identical bowl. Possibly from a service made for the Frederick Augustus, Duke of York circa 1790-93, the Caughley porcelain was painted with the Duke's Crest and inscribed Garter at the Chamberlains factory.
