Two Chinese embroidered panels in Liberty frames

18th Century and later

The textiles of vertical aspect, each worked in gold couched thread and coloured silks with dragons amid flames and clouds above roiling waves and lishui stripes against a champagne ground, set in mahogany frames by Liberty & Co in 1933.

FOOTNOTE: A receipt from Liberty & Co. accompanies this lot, indicating that the panels were framed by them in February 1933 for a Mrs Bessini of Barnes.

Larger: Small stain top right corner. Minor signs of age.


Smaller: Wear to top margin, some slight but consistent fading, general minor signs of age.
