David Barnes was born in Africa and spent much of his childhood there, he has spent much of his adult life in Wales and finds inspiration in the landscapes of Snowdonia, North Wales coast and Anglesey for his work. Barnes is heavily influenced by the work of Sir Kyffin Williams and post-impressionist painters such as Van Gogh. He paints predominantly in oils, using a palette knife with thick impasto technique, with bold strokes giving strength and texture to his work.
