A Chinese ivory and embroidered silk fan

The guards worked in relief with typical Canton style village scenes, the baluster-shape sticks unworked, the fan worked in coloured threads with fanciful birds in flowering branches against a magnolia ground.

Guards and sticks show minor/negligible signs of age. Fan fabric worn at the joint with the sticks and with some light staining/grubbiness in places.
