Leeds did not have a formal police force until 1836, so prior to this many factories had to employ their own night watchmen to guard their premises. In February 1812 several Leeds factories were attacked by Luddites

Condition Report
Several minor dings and dents to both of the brass fore-caps. Likewise, the wood has several small scratches and knocks but none too disfiguring. No signs of any obvious cracks or significant damage, predominantly just signs of age and use.
