A Chinese two colour cinnabar lacquer tray and hard wood stand, Qianlong Period (1735-1796), of circular form with pronounced everted rim, intricately carved to the centre with auspicious scenes of boys playing in gardens beside a river enclosed in scrolling floral borders, the rim decorated with four evenly spaced quatrefoil cartouches containing foliate motifs separated by stylised floral meanders, the reverse with a densely carved design of flowers and foliage above a shallow foot rim with geometric scroll design, the black lacquer base with a six character Qianlong mark, the hard wood stand simply carved with stylised ruyi bat detail, 38.5cm diameter, 43cm high on stand
